God! why this difference!

God has been kind enough to have given me enough to give a comfortable life to my one and half year old daughter. But what I saw the other day stirred me from inside.

I was out for a little shopping with my family on a leisure evening. It was a chilly evening and cold wind was blowing at a considerable speed. I had dressed up my baby with sweater, trousers, socks and woolen head cap. At one of the traffic signals, I was waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Looking around, I saw a beggar lady with her child who was just about the same age of my daughter. When I carefully observed the baby with the beggar, I couldnt believe my eyes. The child was wearing a thin cotton torn shirt and nothing else. Something choked my throat. For some time I couldnt talk. I felt my eyes swell up with tears. My heart wept at the thought that on one hand, when my daughter was enjoying the comfort of life, a  child of her age was confronting the winter with nothing but a torn shirt. I asked God, "why have you done this difference on your earth? What is the fault of these little angels who are so innocent and know nothing?".

I usually carry a spare set of warm clothes for my daughter. I called the beggar lady hurriedly and gave the spare pair of warm clothes to her and asked her to put them on her child immediately. My sister handed the beggar lady with a 20 rupee note.

This one experience has made me realize the importance of charity more, a thing which was on my mind for long time. I have kept all clothes be it mine or my baby's, which we no longer wear, hoping to give them away for charity. Also certain amount of cash which I have been keeping aside as a saving.

I understand that though it is not going to wipe out all needs of the lesser privileged, it certainly is going to give some relief to my mind.

In future too, even if I am not able to offer cash for charity, I will surely donate any possible thing no longer of any use to me but can prove to be of great help to others.
